This painting was inspired by another of my brother-in-law’s photographs. I painted it in a garden in Lydney, while on a weekend away with friends. We were staying at a Country House with absolutely beautiful grounds, and it was a very relaxing time. The simple act of coming away from normal life for a weekend, staying somewhere different and slowing the pace down; letting go of the to-do list and allowing oneself to simply be – there is nothing quite like it. The heron in this painting represented myself that weekend – coming away from the bustle of normal daily life and stepping back, stopping and watching the sunset.
Acrylic on 30x40cm (approx. 12″x16″) stretched canvas (sides painted), ready to hang.
