Ah, snow – what an equaliser! Parents and grandparents become children again; infinite new games are devised – everyone has a part to play, and everyone remembers it for years down the line. Some of my favourite childhood photos involve playing in the snow, rolling huge snowballs around the garden, attempting to build igloos, snowball fights, sledging – these are some of my favourite memories too. But the best thing about snow is when the sun sets and the sky fills with colour, and the white-covered land sparkles and looks so enchanting. Or indeed that moment when you first open the curtains on a winter morning and the sun is beginning to rise, and you see the snow there covering everything – such a beautiful surprise that fills people with a giddy, childlike wonder and excitement. That initial moment before it is spoilt by everyone talking about transport difficulties and cold and sludge and the like. When the snow has first fallen and is as unspoilt as the coloured sky. Perfection.
