It is a tradition in Finland to stay at least for a few weeks each Summer in a Summer cottage beside a lake. Since my mother in law is from Finland we have the privilege of going there every second summer with all Ben’s siblings and his parents to stay in a summer cottage, from which we travel to visit relatives and they come to visit us. It is, to me, one of the most relaxing and beautiful places on earth despite being almost constantly surrounded by family and extended family! There is no town or city very nearby, but there is forest, and there are lakes. So we go walking, we swim, we fish, we row, we sit on the beach, we sit in the sauna, we pick wild blueberries, we paint pictures, we have barbecues… It is simply wonderful. Although this painting does not include the forest and therefore bares little resemblance to the cottage where we stay, it depicts an element of the relaxation and simplicity of the beautiful place that I have come to love so much.
Acrylic on 30x40cm (approx. 12″x16″) stretched canvas, with sides painted and ready to hang.
Have a wonderful week!
